FAQ

The minimum first aid requirement in every workplace is:

  • a first aid box (including the appropriate equipment);
  • a person trained to administer first aid;
  • first aid information for all employees.

Every employer in the UK, regardless of the size of the company, is legally obliged to plan for the provision of first aid at work.

Employers must make sure that someone is always available to give or arrange first aid. This applies if the designated first aider is absent for any reason. First aiders must have a valid first aid training certificate.

It is not a legal requirement that all employers have a fully trained first aider, but someone must be appointed to take charge of first aid in the workplace.

First aid refresher courses (typically lasting between 3 to 4 hours) are recommended annually by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to keep skills and confidence high between full certifications. They cover core skills like CPR, AED awareness, choking, bleeding, and recovery positions, often featuring practical scenarios that can be found in the workplace.

We provide courses that are suitable for all ages and sectors and can tailor training to meet your specific requirements.

Self-employed individuals may encounter a range of potential first aid situations whilst working. You are required by law to make your own first aid provision

It is common that sports regulatory bodies such as the Football Association, England Hockey and many other sports associations and bodies will require a first aid course to be completed that includes sport-specific first aid. Our courses are for anyone involved in sporting activities – this could be referees, coaches or players and cover how to deal with injuries and medical emergencies that can happen during sporting activities.
